Cardiology 2009

During the first half of 2009 the SGU Visiting Cardiology program has consistently facilitated the monthly visit of reputable Cardiologist to Grenada.

The year began with Dr Mark Lanzieri Alumnus. Consultation of patients and interrogation of several patients with Pacemakers was done at the General Hospital.

Dr Lanzieri also donated a C Arm to the General Hospital for use in future Pacemaker implantations. In May and August 2009 two needy patients were the recipients of Biventricular pacing devices which Dr Lanzieri implanted at his Hospital in Maine USA free of cost to the patients.

In March Dr W. Scarpa another graduate thoroughly assessed dozens of new patients at the General Hospital.

Pictured here below left: with SGU medical students and another graduate, Dr Scarpas first inaugural visit was very productive as he has also pledged to help support the needs of the program in any way possible.

In April Alumnus conducted yet another week of invaluable Consultation and echocardiography. Seen here below with the Echotechnician, Dr Glen Tonnessen represented the third Alumnus to visit Grenada for the year.

Assessing patients on medical wards and teaching students is part of the monthly program.
Portable Echocardiography with immediate interpretation and recommendation is a major Hallmark of the Visiting Cardiology program
